Harmon's School of Photography offers classes on most aspects of digital photography.

Whether you have just got your first digital camera, or you want to get more serious about your photography, our classes will provide the jumpstart you need.

Lighting - Workshop

The aim of flash/strobe photography is to make it look like you didn't use flash. The best way to achieve this is to make make your light source bigger, make it directional and balance it with the ambient light.
In this 1 day workshop we will review the art of balancing flash and ambient light, discuss the use of various modifiers (umbrellas, softboxes, reflectors, etc.) available for small & large flashes, show you how and when to use flash in TTL and manual modes, and explain how flashes can be used off-camera for great lighting both indoors and outdoors.
We will put it all into practice with a model shoot both in and outdoors (weather permitting). At the conclusion of this class, you will be able to achieve great results with even just one off-camera flash. If you are a budding 'Strobist' this class is definitely for you! All flash/studio strobe equipment will be provided.

Prerequisites: We recommend that students have taken our Photo 2 class, or have a similar level of knowledge and understanding of their camera controls, especially manual exposure metering and white balance.
